Situated a few kilometers along the main Road of Gulu Highway and the Murchison Falls National park in Nakasongola District, The Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary inhabits the rare species of wild Rhinos in Uganda. The park inhabits 22 Southern White Rhinos which have been trekked by numerous tourists from all over the world. The trekking process takes a period of 3-5 hours and you will transfer with an experienced ranger guide in groups after being briefed about the Dos and Don’ts around these amazing rare species. The experience is very unique especially when around the majestic Rhinos taking photos using a camera with no flash. The guides will inform you more about the Rhinos.
Other than Rhino trekking there are activities one can involve in and these include;

Shoebill Trek and Canoe Ride

This involves transferring from one part of the sanctuary looking for the most sought after shoebill stork which can be spotted along the Lugogo swamp. However other water birds can be spotted as well.

Guided Birding Walk

This walk offers you an opportunity to spot other birds around the park for there are 300 different bird species. There are 4 bird trails in the Sanctuary and these can be found along various vegetation terrains with Savannah, Woodlands and Swamps. The Birds you will spot include; Abdim’s Stork, Blue spotted dove, Abyssinian Ground Hornbill, Booted eagle, African Black Crake, Broad billed Roller, African Black-headed Oriole, Bronze Manikini, African Blue Flycatcher, Brown-backed Srub Robin, African Broad Bill, Brown-crowned Tchagra, African Citril, Brown Parrot.

Guided Nature Walk

These are available for travelers interested in spotting the various wonders of nature as they transfer from one part of the Sanctuary along the trails. They offer an opportunity to spot various birds, animals and reptiles as well as various botany and vegetation terrains around the Sanctuary.

Guided Night Walk

This nature walk involves transferring with an experienced ranger guide through the forest vegetation in the night so as to experience the bush at night fall. You will hear various sounds of wildlife as well as birds and along the way, expect to find nocturnal wildlife animals an experience so exceptional and remarkable.
