A pocket friendly 1-day white water rafting in Jinja at the source of the Nile River is the one of the most popular Uganda short trips that usually start from Kampala with a 2 to 3-hour drive to Jinja city in the eastern part of Uganda. This one-day trip will start very in the morning from Kampala or Entebbe and end late in evening at Entebbe or Kampala. Rafting is divided into 2 categories. That is the level 5 rafting for the experienced rafters and family rafting mostly for the beginners and those on family safari. The minimum age for rafting is 6 years of age and there is no maximum age limit.
Detailed itinerary: 1 Day white water rafting in Jinja
Start your day very early in the morning by 5 AM. By 6 AM your driver guide will be ready to transport you to jinja with your picnic lunch. You will arrive at the source of the Nile by approximately 9AM where you will be greeted by your white-water rafting guide. He will try to teach how activity is done and what you have to know before going into the water for rafting.
Water rafting requires you to be able to hold your breath for some time and you should be aware of that before choosing to go for rafting. The rafting experience will last between 3 to 5 hours and after the exercise, you will head to the shores of the river Nile for relaxation and lunch.
After your lunch, you will transfer to jinja city the former tourism city of Uganda where you will do a city tour and visit different places that were constructed by the British during the colonial time, you will also pay visit to different cultural site and visit to the local market to get to know the lifestyle of Basoga people who are the natives of the city.
Returning to Kampala
After exploring Jinja, late in the evening your driver will drive you back to either Kampala or Entebbe via Mabira rain forest which is one of the largest natural forests in Uganda and east Africa. Mabira is just behind Budongo forest in terms of size and is the home to various primates. Actuary you are likely to see Baboon alongside the road while driving through the forest. During the drive you will also pass by the suspended Nile bridge which was constructed on the source of River Nile.
The time that you will spend while driving back to Kampala will be dependent on the traffic congestion that you will encounter during your drive back. However, regardless of the conditions, your driver guide will ensure that he drop you to your lodge safely and that will be the end of your day white water rafting at River Nile in Jinja.
