Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Transfer-Kibale Forest

Early in the morning have breakfast and then transfer to Kibale forest National Park. The drive will take you through plantations, home steads and green country sides to reach fort portal in the afternoon. Fort portal lies amidst the great Rwenzori “Mountains of the moon”. Have lunch and then later in the afternoon go visit the Ndali crater lakes region. Dinner and overnight at lodge.

Day 2:Chimpanzee tracking /Nature walk (Bigodi Swamp)

In the morning have breakfast and then go search for chimpanzee in the forest. The park is know to harbour the largest number of primates in the country and therefore you should expect other primates like the grey cheeked Mangabeys, black and white colobus monkeys,  baboons and others. In the afternoon you will go for a nature walk in the Bigodi wetland; an initiative of the local community known for its rich diversity of birds and primates. Dinner and overnight at Ndali Lodge

Day 3: Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park / Launch cruise

Early in the morning have breakfast and then transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park. You will reach the park before noon to check in the lodge have lunch and then in the afternoon go for a boat ride on the Kazinga channel. The launch cruise will reward you with water animals like hippos, buffaloes, elephants and plenty of birds both residents and migrants. Dinner and overnight at lodge

Day 4; Game drive / Chimpanzee tracking

Before dusk wake up and go for a game drive in the Kasenyi sector. The drive will reward you with game like the Lions, buffaloes, elephants, Uganda Kob, bush bucks, warthogs, and many more. In the afternoon you will transfer to the Kyambura gorge to go search for chimpanzees and other primates. Dinner and overnight at Lodge

Day 5: Transfer to Bwindi Forest

Through the Ishasha sector you will transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park. The park most known for its great apes. The drive will reward you with tree climbing lions en-route. You will reach in the afternoon and then go for a community walk. This is optional. You may opt to rest in the afternoon at you lodge. Dinner and overnight at lodge

Day 6: Gorilla Tracking

Following breakfast you will transfer to the park headquarters for the briefing before you set off at 9:00 am through the tracks to search for the humble giants. You will go with packed lunch because it’s hard to determine how long it will take you to meet these great apes. However the time ranges between 2-9 hours depending on the movement of the giant primates. The activity is tiresome, it involves walking along steep hilly tracks however encountering these great relatives of man erases all the poor memories/ hardships you went through in trying to find them.  They are awe-inspiring! Dinner and overnight at lodge

Day 7: Transfer to Kampala

Early in the morning have breakfast and then transfer to Kampala. You will have stops for lunch and at the Equator for photographs to reach in the evening. Dinner and overnight at lodge

Day 8: Ngamba Island

In the morning have breakfast and then transfer to Ngamba Island; the chimpanzee sanctuary. You will start the journey to the island at around 9:00 am such that your time of arrival coincides with the feed time of the chimpanzees. You will watch the chimps feed spending about one hour with them and then have lunch.   In the afternoon you may go for a forest walk along with the young chimps. In the evening you will then transfer back to the main Land / Entebbe / Kampala.
