As Rwanda still deals with the Marburg outbreak that has claimed the life of 15 people as of 28th October 2024 per official communication from world healthy organization and Rwanda government. Beside the death toll, several people are still bedridden while dealing with this deadly disease.

This might not stop most of the people to visit Rwanda as the disease is not an airborne and it transmit through direct contact with the affected person or by eating or being attacked by the bats which are already affected. Therefore, minimizing the contact with different people can help you avoid being affected by this deadly disease while enjoying your lifetime experience in the country of thousand hills even in this trying time.

However, for those who have already booked their gorilla trekking permit (the most popular activity that you can engage into during your visit to Rwanda), Rwanda development board (RDB) have decided to allow those who had already booked there permits to reschedule there permit at zero cost as long you meet certain conditions.

Mind you, usually gorilla permit rescheduling costs 20% of the total value of the permit which is an equivalent of 300 US dollars. However, for now those costs have been waved off to facilitate people who does not feel safe to travel to Rwanda now to rearrange their travel as long as the rearrangement does not exceed 2025

The change in policy has been made to maintain a positive collaboration with Rwanda local tour operator and to further promote Rwanda as a top tour destination across Africa. The updated policy will be effective until 31st December 2025 and you will be eligible to reschedule your permit in this stated period of
