Details of 1-day golden monkey trekking in Mgahinga from Kigali
You will be meant by your guide/ driver very early in the morning either from you lodge in Kigali or from Kigali international airport. The guide will take you through your day itinerary briefly before starting your drive to Mgahinga national park through chanika border. After the clearance at chanika border, you will continue with your drive kisolo district in Uganda where Mgahinga national park is found. Once you arrive at the park head quarter, you will be welcomed by the park guide who will briefly take you through the do and don’ts of golden monkey trekking. The guide will also highlight for you the conservation effort that has been put in place to see that these endangered primates can be reserved for the future generation to come.
After the briefing, you will embark to your journey to the bamboo forest which are on lower altitude of the mountains. The search for the golden monkey is not as demanding as that of mountain gorilla and it will last between 1 to 3 hours and once encountered, you will be allocated one hour to spend with golden monkey before returning to the headquarter to start your journey back to Kigali.
At the park headquarter, you will rejoin your guide who will drive you back to Kigali international airport to catchup with your next flight and that will spell the end of this magnificent adventure.
