These 14 days wildlife and primates will take you to all these three African prime safari destinations. Arriving at Kigali international airport where you will be greeted by your safari guide and transfer you to Uganda for chimpanzee tracking at Kibale national park and wildlife viewing at queen Elizabeth national park before returning to Rwanda where you will visit Volcanoes national park for both gorilla trekking experience and golden monkey trekking which are both endemic to Virunga massif of DRC, Rwanda and Uganda.

After primate experience in Rwanda and Uganda, you will flyout to Arusha/Kilimanjaro airport of Tanzania where you will continue with your wildlife experience with a visit to Serengeti national park, the home to the wildebeest migration experience. You will also explore Ngorongoro crater which is the biggest unbroken caldera in the world and offering you a chance to encounter all the big five of Africa within the day.  DETAILED ITINERARY FOR THE 14 DAYS UGANDA, TANZANIA AND RWANDA.

Day 1: Arrival at Kigali International Airport

Welcome to the land of a thousand hills! Upon arrival at Kigali International Airport, you will be met and greeted by our friendly and Professional driver/ guide. He will brief you and take you through your trip plan then transfer you to your hotel in Kigali for relaxation and dinner.

Day 2: Transfer to Kibale Forest National Park

After breakfast, you will check out of the lodge and depart to the primate capital of the world.  On your journey you can enjoy impressive sight of the legendary “mountains of the moon” along the Fort Portal Road. Furthermore, you still can pass through many traditional villages as you enjoy local people carrying out agriculture. Upon your arrival at Kibale national park, you will spot various primate species. This forest is mainly famous for around 13 primate species with chimpanzees being the main tracked primate. The other primate species include the golden monkeys, black and white colobus monkeys, as well as bird species.

The park is also next to Bigodi Wetland which is managed and owned by the local people in the area, this place is famous for primate watching as well as birding. In the late evening check in at your lodge, dinner and overnight stay.

Day 3: Chimpanzee trekking and transfer to Queen Elizabeth

Very early in the morning after your morning breakfast you will then head to Kanyanchu by 8:00 am to start your chimpanzee trekking in Kibale forest. Chimpanzees are the closest relatives of human beings as they share 98% of their DNA with that of human beings.

As you proceed with the search of these beautiful chimps, you will view many other primate and animal species including the LHoest’s monkeys, black and white colobus monkeys, red-tailed monkeys, grey-cheeked mangabeys, bush babies, and a variety of bird species such as yellow-spotted nictor, ramped tinker, crowed eagle, as well as the elephants which are mammals.

This national park is on an average of 3,300 feet in elevation and it’s a rainforest with many chimpanzee communities, each troop of these chimpanzees has over 100 individuals which live in a complete social structure.

In their groups, the adult males dominate the group and always defend the whole community against any danger and incursions by the females from outside. These primates are located by listening to their pant-hooting calls and then hurrying to the place where they are calling from. You get a chance to observe them as they play, feed; socialize as well as jump around the trees.

Day 4: Morning game drive and afternoon boat cruise.

Arise early enough and after breakfast, enjoy a morning game drive where you will see various animals like elephants, elands, antelopes, buffaloes, and lions among others. After having your lunch at the lodge, you will transfer to Ishasha to see the famous tree-climbing lions which can only be sighted at Queen Elizabeth in the Ishasha sector.

After the game drive, you will return to the lodge for lunch. After lunch, you will do the afternoon set out for a boat cruise on Kazinga channel where you will see various of animals including crocodiles, hippos, water bucks, and buffaloes as well as birds like storks, and kingfishers among others.

Day 5: Transfer to Volcanoes National Park

On this day, you will enjoy breakfast and then embark on transferring to Volcanoes national park.  The journey from Queen to Volcanoes national park is approximately a 4 to 5 hours drive. Upon your arrival in Volcanoes national park, check in at the lodge, dinner and overnight stay.

Day 6: Gorilla Tracking and visiting the Ibyiwachu cultural village.

Another exciting Rwanda Uganda Gorilla Tour adventure day, after early breakfast head to the park offices in Kinigi ready to track gorillas. Here you will be briefed about the necessary dos and don’ts of gorillas from here you will be split into small groups get allocated to the gorilla family, and head to the park for your memorable gorilla adventure to search for these gentle giants.

After your incredible experience you will return to your lodge with your guide to have lunch. In the late afternoon prepare to go for cultural entertainment in Iby’Iwacu cultural village and meet the Banyarwanda people.  Here you will learn more about the deep and interesting cultures of the Rwandese through different music and dance performances.

Day 7: Visting the Dianna Fossey Tomb.

Very early in the morning take breakfast with your guide then drive and visit the DE genres camp where you will learn about the great primatologist Dianna fossey who spent almost her life conserving gorillas.

Day 8: Transfer to Kigali for your flight to Arusha

On this day have your relaxed breakfast, and thereafter you will be taken to Kigali International Airport for your flight to Arusha. Upon arrival at Arusha, you will be transferred to the hotel for an overnight stay and dinner.

Day 9: Arusha to Tarangire National Park to Mto wa Mbu

You will depart from Arusha in the morning and drive to the Tarangire National Park where you will discover the true enormity of the deserted termite mounds and ancient baobab trees. The colossal herds of African elephants dominate the golden savannah and screeching flocks of the striking, yellow-collared lovebird can be heard from miles away. The wildlife that roams the scenic landscape of the Tarangire includes lions, giraffes, warthogs, ostriches, impalas, cheetahs, mongoose, buffaloes, and baboons. You will spend your first night at the comprehensive camping facilities on offer. There will be a tantalizing dinner served in the evening.

Day 10: Mto wa Mbu to Serengeti National Park

We will depart for the Serengeti National Park once you have finished your appetizing breakfast. If you are lucky, you may encounter the odd animal en route because we pass via the rim of the Ngorongoro Crater. Tanzania’s oldest and most frequented national park, which is also a world heritage site and recently branded as one of the Seven Wonders of the World – the Serengeti is renowned for the annual migration of the herds and ever-growing wildlife population. We will enjoy a picnic lunch on one of the kopjes (rock outcropping). Our game drive will venture further into the park. After the game drive, we will proceed to the Serengeti where you will be provided with comprehensive camping facilities and an appetizing meal.

Day 11: Serengeti national park to Ngorongoro Crater

After breakfast, you will have a morning game drive in Serengeti National Park. Later depart for Ngorongoro Conservation Area with picnic lunch. Ngorongoro Crater is the largest collapsed volcanic crater in the world and fourteen kilometres of isolated natural beauty. Ngorongoro Crater is surrounded by a ring of extinct volcanoes and the floor, dotted with watering holes, shelters some 30,000 animals. The eventful day comes to an end with a heavy dinner and a good night’s rest in your accommodation.

Day 12: Ngorongoro Crater to Mto wa Mbu

Finishing up with a quick breakfast you will make an early descent at around 6:30 AM into the crater floor. The Ngorongoro Crater is the world’s largest inactive, intact and unfilled volcanic caldera. It has a massive floor of about 260 sq kms with a depth of over 2000 feet. The 5-hour game drive on the crater floor will show you a lot of animal action.

This is the perfect location to view every member of ‘The Big 5’ in one day. We will have a wonderful picnic lunch inside the crater. The unfilled caldera is also home to hyenas, hippos, zebra, wildebeest, and an impressive variety of water birds.

Your guide will enlighten you by sharing facts about the animals, and vegetation and locating hidden animals. After late afternoon we will drive you to Mto wa Mbu where you will overnight and get dinner.

Day 13: Lake Manyara National Park to Arusha

On this day you will enjoy the experience and beauty of Lake Manyara National Park. Nestled at the base of the Great Rift Valley escarpment, Lake Manyara National Park provides picturesque, yet varying scenery.

Start up the day with a hearty breakfast at your lodge and then embark on your morning game drive. The game drive is very rewarding since various animals are always very active during morning hours.

Soda Lake and the surrounding savannah support the highly diverse ecosystem, leading to the diverse array of wildlife to be viewed within the park.

With over four hundred species of dazzling birds, some of which are migratory, Lake Manyara National Park is a birdwatcher’s paradise. Lake Manyara is home to legendary tree-climbing lions as well as powerful water buffalo, an immense African elephant, a soaring giraffe, a graceful impala, and a gigantic hippo.

In the late afternoon, we will leave Manyara and proceed to Arusha to conclude our safari. Guests will enjoy the beautiful scenery as we drive past Maasai bomas, baobab forest, and rolling savannah plains in route to Arusha.
