Ngamba island chimpanzee sanctuary was established in 1998 and is managed by Chimpanzee Sanctuary and Wildlife Conservation Trust to offer protection to the disadvantaged chimpanzees that have lost their mothers or have been endangered in the hunting process.
As of today, Ngamba island is the home to over 50 disadvantaged chimpanzees which has been rescued as a result of losing their mothers or rescued due to health concerns. The sanctuary is also a home to several other reptiles that you will meet while on this once in a lifetime safari in Ngamba. This great vacation safari starts and ends at either Entebbe or kampala.

Drive to Nakiwogo landing site either in the morning after your breakfast if you shift is in the morning or after your lunch if your shift is in the afternoon. On arrival at Nakiwogo, you will head to a wooden boat that will transfer you to the Ngamba island for the great activity of the day which is chimpanzee tracking experience.
During the boat cruise you will be able to see various bird species on Lake Victoria (which is the biggest freshwater lake in the world). You will also enjoy the beautiful view of Lake Victoria and its surroundings and several bird species during your drive to the Ngamba island chimpanzee sanctuary
Ngamba island is seated on 100 acres forest. Ensure to arrive early so that you can find the care giver providing food to these great apes of Africa. You will also have a chance to witness the young ones playing and socializing through the forest.
During stay at Ngamba, you will learn more about the history and the location of this great sanctuary. You will also get to know the effort being made to conserve the chimps plus the life of chimpanzees in general with the assistance of your local guide. In case you need to offer hand in the conservation effort, you will be offered a chance to do so while there
After the trekking, we shall proceed to the equator(the 00 imaginary line) which passes through lake Victoria and found close to the Ngamba island.
