Detailed Itinerary
Day 1: Pick Up-Marangu Gate
After breakfast in the morning, you will be transferred at 8.00 a.m by our company driver to the Marangu gate where you will start walking through the thick rain forest for a period of 4 hours to the Mandara Hut elevated 2,750 m. You will relax, have dinner and Overnight at the Hut.
Day 2: Hike through the Forest-Horombo Hut
Wake up have breakfast then embark on a walk through the forest and Savannah bush towards the Horombo Hut elevated at 3,489m. You will relax, have Dinner and Overnight at the Hut..
Day 3: Transfer-Kibo Hut
Wake up have breakfast then embark on your hard day climb to the Kibo Hut elevated at 4,703 m. You will transfer for a period of 6 -7 hours traversing the barren sub-Alpine terrain of the saddle between the Mawenzi and Kibo peaks. You will relax then proceed on you hike shortly after midnight.
Day 4: Transfer-Uhuru Peak
You will start your journey at around 1.00 a.m following the zig zag path up the screen taking naps frequently so as to hold your breath in the starlit air. The hike is the sharpest and most challenging section of the climb taking you 5 hours to the Gillmans point elevated at 5,681m.
While here, you will have beautiful views at the sunrise behind Mawenzi, Illuminating plain then later proceed on your walk for more 45 minutes around the crater. You will reach the highest point UHURU peak after some time.
Day 5: Descend-Departure
You will descend freely downhill to the Marangu gate where you will transfer from to your Hotel for relaxation, Dinner and Overnight in Arusha or board your flight back home.
