Uganda and Rwanda remain the home to great apes other than humans. These include Chimpanzees, and gorillas specifically eastern mountain gorillas that are hosted by Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park, Volcanoes National Park, Virunga National Park and Mgahinga National Park.
The gorillas are part of the highly organized apes that still exist, without casting votes or a fight of guns to lead, yet they have the most stable leadership in their nature, a quality that leaves one mesmerized. These incredible apes have attracted multitudes all over the world to come and have an experience with them; two kinds of experiences can be achieved;
- Gorilla habituation (tamed to interact with humans without being aggressive) costs 1500$ to stay with the Gorilla for 4 hours and is limited to 4 people per visit. This experience has only two families and
- Gorillas trekking in their natural habitat cost 800$ in Uganda while in Rwanda they cost 1500$. Both Gorilla trekking and habituation are unforgettable experiences one shouldn’t miss. What is the minimum number of days to have this experience? It can be as little as two days however, to experience both Gorillas and Chimpanzee one would need at least 5 days.
The Chimpanzees are the other family of apes, While Rwanda has only 3 places, Uganda has more than 8 places with Chimpanzees in their natural habitat. A permit to see these Chimpanzees costs 250$ per person.
Note: this trip starts from Entebbe and ends in Kigali and it runs all year round
