DETAILED ITINERARY FOR A 2 DAY GORILLA TREKKING IN VOLCANOES FROM KIGALI

Day 1:  ARRIVAL IN KIGALI, CITY TOUR AND TRANFER TO VOLCANOES NATIONAL PARK

Upon your arrival in Kigali, our guide will be ready to attend to you. He will welcome you and then gives you a briefing about your 2 days gorilla trekking safari in Rwanda.

The trip begins with a city tour covering various areas of interest for example the Kimironko market, genocide centres, convention center and many more. Lunch will be taken within Kigali city.

After enjoying your city tour you will set off to volcanoes national park.  The journey is just a 2 to 3 hours drive to access the park which is located in the northern parts of Rwanda. After accessing the park check in at your lodge, have dinner and rest.

Day 2: GORILLA TREKKING AND RETURN TO KIGALI

After enjoying your morning meals, your guide will drive you at the park headquarters in (Kinigi).  Gorilla trekking starts with a briefing that is where trekkers are equipped with  rules and regulations to follow while in the forest. After the briefing, ready with your trekking gears you will have to go to the forest to search for these endangered species.

Trekking involves hiking through the slippery terrains, rugged hills and steep slopes. However, the moment you meet these gorillas only one hour is given for interaction.

The one hour includes taking photos, view gorillas go about their activities. Gorilla trekking is a once in lifetime experience. After the experience return back to the park head quarters then drive back to your lodge to take lunch. When you are done with lunch, you can decide to do an optional activity if you want.  From here you will be driven back to Kigali international airport and your 2-day gorilla trekking in volcanoes from Kigali will have ended.

COST OF A GORILLA PERMIT IN RWANDA

Please note that to take part in gorilla trekking you must have obtained a permit. The cost of a gorilla permit in Rwanda is $1500. The gorilla permit can be obtained through booking with a trusted tour operator or book through the Rwanda development board website. In order to enjoy your gorilla trekking experience booking in advance is very recommendable.
