6 Days Chimpanzees and gorillas: Uganda primate safari

These 6 days chimpanzee and gorillas safari will take you to the top primate destinations in Uganda. That is Kibaale forest national park for chimpanzee trekking and Bwindi impenetrable forest national park for gorilla trekking experiences. However, before heading to the southwestern Uganda for the two activities, you will first visit Mabamba swamps on your arrival at Entebbe for the rare shoebill experience. The trip will start from Entebbe international airport of Uganda and end at Kigali international airport of Rwanda, offering you a chance to visit these two prime destinations of east Africa

you will also have to visit queen Elizabeth national park in between chimps habituation and gorilla habituation to experience wildlife viewing during the game drive through the different sectors of the park. on a lucky day you will be able to encounter the tree climbing lion at ishasha sector of the park. you will also be able to encounter 4 of the five big five of Africa . The park is also famous for its high concentration of hippos that you will encounter during the boa cruise at kazinga channels.

For your convenience, you can simply apply for the east African visa that will allow you to visit both countries without a need for reapplying for the visa. The east African visa can also allow you to extend your visit to Kenya with no need for an extra visa application. This will offer a total satisfaction and exploration of all the three east African country. Note that the east African visa will only cost you 100 dollars and is valid for three months from the date of its issuance.

Detailed itinerary

DAY 1: TRANSFER TO MABAMBA FOR YOUR SHOEBILL TOUR.

The driver guide will pick you up from your Hotel to start your day’s tour to Mabamba Swamp where we find the unique and fascinating bird species. On arrival at Mabamba which is located at the shores of Lake Victoria, a small boat will be arranged for you for the experience of looking out for the shoebill in its natural Habitat. As you look out for the Shoebill as you get to know more about its behavior and characteristics. You will also enjoy watching different bird species. The boat trip is more rewarding in the morning hours when the shoebills are feeding.

After birding, you will have lunch then relax by the fresh waters of the Lake. The driver will transfer you back to your Hotel for Dinner and overnight.

DAY 2: TRANSFER FROM KAMPALA TO KIBALE NATIONAL PARK.

You will have breakfast, then be picked up by the safari driver guide for a transfer to Kibale National Park. This National Park is known for its key features, mainly the Chimpanzees. On your drive to Kibale, you will enjoy beautiful sceneries that offer stunning views and hiking opportunities, Mountain scenery, glaciers and diverse flora. The drive also offers a unique setup of the countryside and tea plantations along the drive ways. On arrival, you will check into your Lodge for Dinner and overnight.

DAY 3: CHIMPANZEE HABITUATION AND TRANSFER TO QUEEN ELIZABETH

Our guide will pick you up from the hotel in the early morning to head for the chimpanzee Habituation trekking in Kibale Forest. The Habituation activity allows you get close to the Chimpanzees to observe and study the amazing animals. While you capture moments in the jungle, you will get the opportunity to see other primates like the red-tailed monkeys, lots of birds and animals. the habituation experience will offer you 4 hour with gorillas in their close proximity.

DAY 4: MORNING GAME DRIVE AND TRANSFER TO BWINDI

On this day, you will have an early morning Game drive in Queen Elizabeth national park which will give you the opportunity of spotting Lions, Leopards, Hyenas, elephants, antelopes and many more. You will enjoy the scenic Landscapes and after the Game drive, you will transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park, located in southwestern Uganda. The drive will scenic views of the rolling hills, valleys and picturesque villages.  Upon arrival in Bwindi, check into your lodge for Dinner and overnight.

DAY 5: GORILLA HABITUATION AND CULTURAL TOUR

In the morning, you will be picked up from your Lodge to go for the Gorilla Habituation activity. You will drive to Rushaga sector headquarters. You will be briefed about the activity, and thereafter, head to the jungle to observe the amazing animals in their Natural habitat. You will be accompanied by experienced guides who will provide insights into gorilla behavior and habitat. You will observe the gorillas as they feed and go about their day today activities. After the activity, you will walk back to meet your guide and, in the afternoon, you will go a cultural tour in the surrounding vibrant communities with interesting culture. You will visit the traditional homes, participate in various daily activities of the local people and after this, you will drive back to the lodge for Dinner and overnight.

DAY 6: TRANSFAER TO KIGALI.

In the morning, you will have breakfast then transfer to Kigali, where you will have a brief City Tour. Kigali offers a rich history and culture. Some of the places that will be visited include the Kigali Genocide Memorial Centre, Hotel Mille Collines and the local market. This marks the end of your Safari.
