Kasenyi plains are stationed in the northeastern parts of the popular Queen Elizabeth national park. Queen Eliabeth national park is the second largest national park in Uganda and is found in the southwestern parts of Uganda.
The Kasenyi plains are located with in Kasese district, Rwenzururu sub- area western Uganda closely to Kazinga channel. Kasenyi plains are found on the western shores of Lake George where it meets with Kazinga channel near Lake Edward.
The plains are very rich with wildlife such as the Uganda Kobs, large concentration of lions, elephants, leopards, hyenas, buffaloes, and many others. How to get to Kasenyi plains?
Kasenyi plain can either be accessed by road or air. By road the drive from Kampala, the capital city of Uganda to queen Elizabeth national park is a 6-to-7-hour drive. The park is located approximately 200 kilometres from kampala via kampala-hoima road.
Alternatively, for those not willing to sit all this long on the road, you can access the plain by air either from Entebbe internationa airport or kajjansi airstrip to mweya airstrip. Your local tour operator will be able to arrange for you the domestic charter to the plain

Lion Tracking Experiences

Kasenyi plains still host the Kazinga channel, which is a perfect area for carrying out a boat cruise. A boat cruise is carried out usually in the late afternoon hours and you will be able to see a variety of animals such as hippos, crocodiles, elephants and many others.
BEST TIME FOR VISTING KASENYI PLAINS
Kasenyi is open for visitors all year round. However, most people recommend dry season as the perfect time to visit the park for wildlife viewing as the trails are dry and less slippery. During this time animals tend to congregate near the water sources for water intake hence giving a chance to see variety of bird species. The dry season range from June to September and December to February.
However, this time coincide with the peak season of tourism activities in Uganda which accommodation and transfers a little expense and hard to get. Therefore, you will be required to book all your safari requirements early enough to avoid disappointments.
For the bird enthusiasts, the rain season will be perfect for you as migratory birds tend to join the endemic birds which increases the variety of bird species you are likely to encounter.
